Keynote door prof. dr. Silja Kotte, Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences - How does context matter for workplace coaching? Insights from research for practice

    Door Kotte (Silja)

Workplace coaching takes place in many different contexts: in different organizations, different industries, for different target groups, with different stakeholders, and influenced by societal developments like technological transformation. The keynote will offer different lenses for looking at how context matters for workplace coaching. It provides insights from research on the interplay among different coaching stakeholders and their agendas, the organizational framing of coaching (e.g., developmental vs. remedial), the particularities of coaching different target groups (e.g., entrepreneurs), and the challenges and opportunities for coaching that result from the rapid advancement of AI (e.g., implementation of chatbot coaching in organizations).

  2. Van 11:40 tot 12:55

    1. Can a match make or break coaching success? door Lara Solms, Universiteit van Amsterdam (Kennissessie)

The working alliance is the not-so-secret sauce of coaching—it's one of the most studied ‘active ingredients’ of coaching and is known to be important for coaching success. Yet, we know little about the factors contributing to or constituting a high-quality working alliance. How can clients make sure to find a coach with whom they will click? Should coaches focus primarily on relationship building? How about similarity, does it matter? In this knowledge session, we will take a closer look at the working alliance from both the coachee's and the coach's perspective based on recent empirical findings in the field of healthcare. We'll explore the factors that contribute to the working alliance, especially the role of fit or matching, and its implications for client change and positive coaching outcomes. While this session has a strong focus on research and theory, we will discuss what findings mean for coaches and their clients and explore how they could be applied in practice.

  3. Van 11:40 tot 12:55

    2. Coaching Goals: Themes, Combinations, and Techniques door Ana Stojanovic en Daan Fris, MSc, Erasmus MC & University of Amsterdam (kennissessie)

    Door Stojanovic (Ana), Fris (Daan)

Join us for an insightful knowledge session where we share valuable insights into the common coaching objectives of medical students, residents, and specialists from 16 Dutch hospitals. Participants are encouraged to contribute their distinct perspectives and experiences, fostering an enriching exchange of knowledge. Together, we will delve into coaching techniques that cater to specific goals, ensuring coaching effectiveness and facilitating personal and professional growth. This collaborative conversation offers an opportunity to gain valuable insights and empower all involved.

  4. Van 11:40 tot 12:55

    3. Questioning the Emperor's new clothes: Is supervision practice evidence-based? door dr. Aisling McMahon, Dublin City University, Ireland (Kennissessie)

    Door McMahon (Aisling)

Clinical supervision practice is increasingly recognised and established across a broad range of disciplines, and is now considered a distinct professional practice in its own right. But is the value of supervision practice evidence-based or is it a case of the emperor’s new clothes? Five main themes will be identified in supervision research to date, and these will be critically considered in terms of their implications for best practice. Small and large group discussions and reflective exercises will be facilitated so that participants can actively consider how the current research evidence can inform their supervision practice going forward.

Digital coaching platforms mushroom. As they do, or as we simply choose to work more online than in person with clients, we embrace the opportunity to get easy access to clients from all over the world. As we welcome this opportunity, do we also embrace potential differences when it comes to our coaching presence? Do we notice the implications of moving from offline to online coaching when it comes to this particular skills, one which has been understood to be our most important lever of mastery?

In this workshop, we will focus on getting a felt sense of one big difference in 1:1 online coaching presence and one big difference in team coaching presence - all based on scientific work I am conducting and experiential wisdom supported by client feedback.
